Description:
The Telegraph reaches the Brazillian royal family in Europe two days later, and after some consideration, Pedro II and his daughter Isabel both decline to help the revolt.
This is where recorded history branches into alternate history.
However, Isabel's first son Luiz overhears the conversation about the telegraph, and his instinct to restore the monarchy overrides his duty to his family. In secret, he sends another telegraph to de Malo, saying that he would cheerfully join the rebels. Though he is only 16, he is intelligent, courageous and determined.
