The battle of Gonzales was the first battle in the Texas revolution. Caroline Zumwalt and Eveline DeWitt were the 2 women who made the come and take it flag. It was fought between rebellious Texan settlers and a part of the Mexican army. Mexican soldiers tried to take a small cannon in the city of Gonzales. Thats why the flag was called “come and take it." This lead t the texans winning.Added to timeline:
