Description:

William the conqueror invades england oct 14 1066. This invasion dramatically cut ties between Scandinavia and England, and instead brought England into closer contact with the european continent but primarily France. The invasion had an incredible effect on English society, french and english language. Anglo-Saxon english was mixed with Old French and evolved into Anglo-Norman which was also influenced by Old Norse. At the same time severeal other languages also influenced each other and the old english language, germanic tribes, jutes and vikings all affected eachother. A distinguishable change in the english launguage was the fact that plenty of new names started to be used.
