jan 9, 1682 - The Great Law - 1682

Description:

In 1682, William Penn established the “Great Law” which was promised to grant people of all faiths equality with others. Originally, in Europe, the Quakers weren’t accepted. Penn also got thrown into jail for preaching the Quaker’s beliefs.

The Great Law was important because without it, the Quakers wouldn’t have anywhere to live. But also, the Great Law granted more people than just the Quakers religious freedom. Penn advertised his Great Law all over Europe, which brought in settlers from all sorts of different countries. The Great Law gave people a better life.
