Roger Willaims disagreed with the opinion that everyone should believe in the same religion. He decided to leave Massachusetts. On his journey, he met a kind group of Indians. He bought land from them and created a settlement named “Providence” which was meant to mean “the guidance and care of G-d.” Later, Providence was renamed to Rhode Island. Roger met a woman named “Anne Hutchinson who was also forced to leave Massachusetts for preaching in what she believed in, and not what they believed in. In 1647, Anne and Roger forged their settlements together, which created Rhode Island.
