jan 14, 1639 - The Creation of Hartford (Connecticut) - 1639
Description:
Thomas Hooker didn’t agree with the laws and leadership in Massachusetts. He wanted religious freedom. When he was told about a valley along a river, he convinced his family and 100 other individuals to follow him to the valley and start a settlement named “Hartford.” Originally, Hartford was an old Dutch fort where a group of English individuals had settled. Later, Hartford combined with two other settlements, leading up to the creation of Connecticut.
