may 28, 1626 - Dutch West India Company & The Indians - 1626

Description:

The Dutch West India company decided a man named Peter Minuit would become the new governor. They told him that he should never use violence or expel native people with threats, he had to use kind words. Peter followed those orders and he offered the Indians $24 worth of supplies for their land, which was some iron pots, beads, and blankets. The Indians accepted the trade, and that was how their peaceful relationship was built. But also, it was how the Dutch West India Company got some of their land.
