In England, religious beliefs were very important to the people living there. When someone disagreed with a belief, they’d take a group of people and leave. That’s exactly what the Separatists did. At first, they came to Holland but then hey decided that it just wasn’t home for them, they wanted their children to grow up in an English culture. In 1620, 50 Separatists decided to go to America, aboard the Mayflower. The Separatists were welcomed by the Indians and they were treated well.

The Separatists leaving England is important because it shows how when someone disagrees with another’s religious belief, they’ll just simply leave. That shows that people didn’t have the ability to compromise.
