Kristallnacht is the nickname for the night between November 9 and 10, 1938, during which a pogrom was held throughout the Third Reich (Germany and Austria). The event was so named because of the many pieces of glass that had accumulated on the land as a result of the glass shattering of residential homes, public institutions and many German-Jewish businesses.
