jan 1, 1834 - Canal built from Great Lakes to Mississippi Valley
Description:
A canal was created by an Ohio Company which linked the Great Lakes to the Mississippi Valley Canal. This was a huge deal, as it connected the midwest to the South. This benefited trade between the regions as manufactured factory goods traveled to the South and allowed sale of agricultural goods. This was a continuity because canals were the transportation and this was one of the main ones.
