About 8:40 p.m., Las Cruces police and fire were dispatched to what was initially described as an explosion inside Black’s home on the 1300 block of Myrtle Avenue.

Upon entering the home, police discovered Black with at least one fatal gunshot wound. Police said evidence showed multiple rounds were fired into the home. A second woman inside the residence escaped injury.
