PROBLEMS FACED BY THE US MILITARY:
-Inexperienced troops - most American soldiers were around the age of 19 and from 1967, they were conscripted. Many of them just wanted to go home. A one year service was introduced meaning that many went home after they had finally gained experience. A large numbers of these soldiers were from poor backgrounds as if someone had a university place they wouldn't have to go.
-Low Morale - the guerrilla warfare caused soldiers to turn to drugs and some to commit suicide
