Description:

The first workable prototype of the Internet came in the late 1960’s with the creation of ARPANET, or the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network. Originally funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, ARPANET used packet switching to allow multiple computers to communicate on a single network. The Technology continued to grow in the 1970’s after scientists Robert Kahn and Vinton Cerf developed Transmission Control Protocol and Internet Protocol, or TCP/IP, a communications model that set standards for how data could be transmitted between multiple networks. Then, on January 1, 1983, researchers adopted TCP/IP, and began to assemble the “network of networks” that has become the modern internet. The purpose of the internet serves as a crucial step in developing the vast amount of information that most of us now access on a daily basis. This also provides us access to education, global news, and faster messaging systems. Internet impact on society is now making economic, social, and political changes around the globe. It provides effective communication using emailing and instant messaging services to any part of the world. It improves business interactions and transactions, saving on vital time, and is further making banking and shopping online much less complicated. Furthermore, the internet has provided a platform to create these innovations, and makes it much easier and efficient.
