Description:

Leland Stanford, Collis P. Huntington, Mark Hopkins, and Charles Crocker were the owners of the Central Pacific Railroad. The purpose of the transcontinental railroad was to provide fast travel from the east to the west of America. This allowed for surplus goods from different regions to go to regions where they weren’t as bountiful. This allowed for people to stop focusing solely on providing food for themselves and more people could transition to other trades. This allowed for a broad range of inventions to arise as a result of this increased time and efficiency, paving the path for future computing innovations.
