jan 1, 1885 - Automobile
Description:
German inventor Karl Benz is credited with inventing the automobile in 1885, although many people were developing, designing, and prototyping various versions of the automobile. The primary purpose of the automobile was to enable faster transportation from one location to another. Pre-dating the automobile were horse-drawn carriages, which took longer and were not as reliable. Automobiles allowed for people to go from one place to another faster. This increased time allowed them to meet their biological and safety needs faster, so now they can focus on innovating. The technology within the automobile also capitalizes on different versions of stored energy -sometimes in the form of electricity. It is this stored energy that society learned to replicate in the building of major computing innovations such as the personal computer.
