may 24, 1854 - Anthony Burns Uproar

Description:

Abolitionists attack a courthouse where, escaped slave, Anthony Burns is being held in an attempt to free him from returning to the master he escaped. However, these attempts were unsuccessful and resulted in president Peirce forcing him to return in a show that he will enforce the Fugitive Slave Act. This lead to an increase in agitation from pro slavery forces in the area.
