may 30, 1854 - Kansas-Nebraska Act Passed

Description:

The Kansa- Nebraska Act was passed which repealed the Missouri Compromise and allowed the states to decide how they would enter the union, as free or slave, by popular sovereignty. This would lead to violence between pro and anti-slavery movements in the area. This would help separate the country in preparation of the Civil War.
