System proposed by Henry Clay that consisted of three parts: a tariff to protect and promote industry; a national bank to foster commerce; and federal money for roads, canals, and other internal improvements to develop profitable markets. This was significant to sectionalism because the North was for it but the South was not, showing disagreement.
