11h 28min, may 30, 1854 y - Kansas-Nebraska Act
Description:
Act that replaced the Missouri Compromise and allowed for new territories to decide if they were a free or slave state by popular sovereignty. This was important to sectionalism because supporters from both positions on slavery rushed to Kansas after the act was passed to try and determine the winner of the first election after the law.
