apr 16, 1917 - Wilfred Owen meets the War

Description:

2nd Battalion is assigned to attack the Hindenburg Line near Savy Wood. During the charge, Wilfred is hit by a mortar shell and is assumed to be dead. It is later revealed that he was merely injured and unable to move, and while in the ditch, he met "The Piper", also referred to as "The War" (MAG 7). The date is uncertain, however Berry states the charge occurred when "spring thaw just passed," so I am estimating this occurred in mid-to-late April of 1917.
