sep 2, 1864 - The Start of Sherman's March
Description:
General William T. Sherman captured Atlanta. This was something big for him because Atlanta was a railroad hub and the industrial center of the Confederacy. It had many factories and warehouses with army supplies and food! It sat between two of Sherman's most prized targets. The Gulf of Mexico on the west side, Charleston on the east. It was a sign of Confederate pride and strength Which caused everyone to doubt the fact of them winning.
