jun 1, 1964 - Freedom Summer
Description:
Freedom Summer was where civil rights activists aimed to increase voter registration for African Americans, but it turned violent when the KKK attacked the activists. This project included Congress on Racial Equality (CORE) and the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). This was effected by the Civil Rights Movement which was heavily influenced by events such as Brown v. Board and Rosa Parks bus incident. This influenced the passing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 as more people were aware of the voting discrimination
