jan 1, 1628 - William Harvey
Description:
Disproved Galen's theory that blood was produced in the liver and used up everywhere in the body.
Came up with circulatory system.
Performed his own dissections.
Wrote "De Motu Cordis" (on the Motion of the Heart).
Only one type of blood (as opposed to the two Galen thought). Blood in Veins was the same as in Arteries.
Could not explain the two different colours of blood or how it moved from Arteries to Veins - suggested absorption.
