Description:
President Monroe vetoed a bill to provide federal funds to sustain and repair the Cumberland national road. He does this in fear of wasting federal funds and under the pressure of the panic of 1819. This is significant because it furthered postponed the use of this road which could have been used and been useful economically for a long time.
