Description:

Fought two weeks after a treaty ending the war had been signed in Ghent, Belgium. An American force led by Andrew Jackson, consisting of frontiersmen, free blacks, and Creoles decisively defeated an invading British army intent on seizing New Orleans and America's Western Lands. Proved the young American natio could defend itself and created a sense of pride in their capabilities and military.
