dec 12, 1807 - Embargo Act

Description:

This act closed all ports export shipping and imposed restrictions on imports of Great Britain. This was a response to the British attacking American ships such as the Chesapeake warship. The Act harmed trade and farmers, and it was changed with the nonintercourse act. This caused the people to become angry, and also hightened tensions with Great Britain and France which would lead to the war of 1812.
