jan 1, 1806 - Building of a National Road

Description:

This road was commissioned to reach the western settlements and was known as route 40. It was the first federally funded road and was made to help unite the country. This allowed for more trade as it was easier to travel, and also made many jobs while it was being made. This was important as it allowed for people to expand west, which later becomes a huge part of the US' trade and technology.
