jan 1, 1811 - The New Orleans

Description:

This was the first steamboat in the "western waters" of the US. It sailed from Pittsburg to Pennsylvania to New Orleans. This was important for both work, exchange, and technology as it ushered in a new era of transportation which allowed for faster trade, new work, and a technology boom as people tried to improve the boats. This led to a technology race which ended up making travel much faster and more efficient, which is imperative for trade.
