Some time shortly after the destruction of the Temple, a weaver named Jonathan (whom Josephus associates witht eh Sicarii) led a group of the poor of Cyrene into the wilderness, where he promised to show them "signs and apparitions." Although he was initially spared by the Roman governor, he was eventually executed after an inquiry by Vespasian (.JW. 7.437-450)
