jan 1, 100 - 4 Ezra
Description:
Composed around 100 CE, 4 Ezra (which comprises chs. 3-14 of 2 Esdras) is a Jewish Apocalypse that was almost certainly originally written in Hebrew in the land of Israel. The Eagle Vision, which predicts the fall of the Roman Empire after the reign of Domitian (d. 96 CE) serves as the terminus post quem for the work. Greek translations of the work mediate between the proposed Hebrew original and later Latin, Syriac, Coptic, Ethiopic, and Georgian versions.
