Description:

When Pekah, king of the northern kingdom of Israel, joined forces with Rezin, king of Aram-Demascus (these are the same place), in order to stand against the Assyrian kingdom, they tried to get Judah to join the coalition, but Judah refused. Therefore, Pekah and Rezin lead troops to lay siege to Jerusalem and Judah's then king, King Ahaz. Ahaz then begged king Tiglath-pileser III of Assyria for help and he agreed and destroyed Damascus. Because the war was between Assyria and Israel (which is sometimes referred to as Ephraim because of the dominant tribe there) this is Called the Syro-Ephraimite War.
