The SA or "storm troopers" were Hitler's own private army. They were formed to protect Nazi meetings, intimidate and beat up Left Wing supporters (The "Red Front Fighters" were the left-wing version of the SA). They were often violent and feared many into not resisting the rising right. Much of the SA were young, unemployed working class men, broadening the appeal of the party.Added to timeline:
