Description:
The marble Greek Hellenistic sculpture was discovered in 1506, buried in the ground under a vineyard in Rome. It is credited with being made by three sculptors from the the Greek island of Rhodes: Hagesander, Athenodoros and Polydorus. The statue depicts Laocoön and his two sons, it now sits on display in the Vatican.
