jan 20, 1981 - Election of Ronald Reagan

Description:

When Ronald Reagan was elected as President he brought along with him devolution. The state governments were happy because that involves gradually returning power to the states. For the first time in a while, the power shifted in a way that truly gave the states more power. As a result of this, the federal government lost a little bit of power. This no doubt was the cause of a lot of arguments and fueled the states power vs federal power debate.
