The ball got rolling on the New Deal right after FDR's inaugural address. The New Deal was a series of programs created to help provide relief, reform, and recovery from the Great Depression. The New Deal changed the distribution of power. The federalism in the country began to shift towards a cooperative federalism. The response to The New Deal from the states varied. Some were all for it and others weren't pleased. The federal gov't defintely gained some power during thsi time as FDR completely tossed out the states' rights approach to economic recovery.
