Description:

Another invasion attempt by France and British hot off the back of the 2nd battle of Ypres. The French initial attack was successful, but reinforcements were too slow and the Germans pushed them back. A subsequent British attack was a huge failure and costed the British greatly. The French gained about a mile of ground but were unable to break the German lines despite expending over 2 million artillery shells and losing over 100 thousand men. The British lost about 55 thousand and the Germans lost about 70 thousand.
