sep 5, 1793 - The Reign of Terror
Description:
The Reign of Terror was a dark time during the revolution filled with the death of about 40,000 people. Maximilien Robespierre, the leader of the Jacobins and also a part of the Committee of Public Safety, wanted to destroy any possibility of a counter-revolutionary movement and would execute anyone who showed even the slightest opposition to the revolution and the actions of the National Convention. The Reign of Terror showed that the revolution had gone too far and no longer represented what the people had sought after in the beginning.
