Description:
The National Convention were divided when they tried King Louis XVI, the Jacobins wanted him executed but the Girondins wanted him only to be jailed. The Jacobins won in the end and the King was executed signifying the power of the people and ending the rule of monarchs in France. Most Parisians supported the execution which led to the Girondins losing support and the Jacobins taking control over the National Convention.
