jun 20, 1789 - The tennis court Oath
Description:
King Louis XVI did not accept the National Assembly, so he ordered for them to be locked out of the building they met in. Because of this, the Assembly meets at a tennis court where they sign an oath. The oath is an agreement that all of the members would not disband until they had a written constitution for France. On June 27 the King ordered the first and second estate to join the National Assembly. This is the first time the Assembly is able to force the King to do what they want.
