The earliest figurative sculpture (Uknown artist, Lion Man of the Hohlenstein Stadel, 38,000 B.C., Ivory Carving) is made around 38,000 B.C. and would later be discovered in what is now southern Germany in 1939. The Lion Man would also be credited with being the oldest known evidence of religious beliefs.
