Description:
This Act punished people who did not claim god as their savior or were openly against the Holy Trinity.They called speaking about the Lord in a non-positive way blaspheme. This also prevented people from being negatively about other religions. This Act was passed in 1649, and was also called “An Act Concerning Religion”. This law was said to be for permitting the Roman Catholics with religious freedom. The Maryland Toleration Act is thought to be the first known law to preserve religious freedom, and it was later used to defend the First Amendment.
