jun 26, 2017 - John 5:5, Malachi 2:5

Description:

"Lacey read John 5 with me"
"No Lord... we have read it several times."
"Read it with me. Verse 5"

"One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, "Do you
want to get well?" "Sir," the invalid replied, "I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me."

"who is the man" said the Lord. "Tony is..."
"who is the pool?" said the Lord. "me..."
"who gets in the way of him getting in the pool"... "me..."

Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk."

"He has to be healed by me... "

"Read Malachi, Chapter 2. Verse 5"

5“My covenant was with him, a covenant of life and peace, and I gave them to him; this called for reverence and he revered me and stood in awe of my name. 6True instruction was in his mouth and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many from sin.

"who is 'him'?" "Tony..."
But that can't be true Lord... he has turned from you to other women and has not spoken truth nor turned others from sin...

"he fell... but this is who he was"

What made him fall?
"the evil one..."

I have sinned against him in my ignorance. making it worse, but Lord then why is he being punished if I caused him to stumble?

"Because he was told the truth, and he did not believe... he must be treated more harshly because he did not choose to honor me the way he was supposed to"

If I haven't honored you correctly either, than... why is his punishment worse? If I kept him from being healed, and didn't respect the covenant with him in the way I was suppose to? I made mistakes too... I committed to the covenant but I definitely didn't handle it well... I saw 'him' as my enemy rather than the enemy as my enemy.

"He chose to shrink back away from his responsibilities... he saw you sinning and did nothing about it. He did not use his strength and did not stand up to the evil one. Instead he looked for a route with less pain. Where he could be strong without intimacy. He is responsible for you - and he has dishonored me by dishonoring you. He did not obey or honor me in regard to you. it must be a more severe discipline."

I did not treat him as a co-heir the way I should have... I saw the temptations of the evil one as his identity..
