aug 9, 1869 - Bremen Missions destroyed
Description:
Skinner pp39: The Bremen mission station at Ho-Wegbe was destroyed by the Asante armies who marched east across the river Volta. The Basel mission society, which had established stations along the river Volta and further north in Buem, was also affected, and missionaries Ramseyer and Kühn were famously taken captive and endured the ordeal of a march to, and imprisonment in, the Asante capital Kumasi.22 Whilst Krepe was devastated by the invasion itself, and by the period of occupation and plunder which followed, coastal Anlo remained immune through its alliance with Asante.
