According to the scriptures, it was said that people started to focus excessively towards religion and constructing pagodas that they neglected their country's political conditions. Archaeological evidence proved that the structures and planning of the pagodas became more complex and advanced.
The dynasty officially ended after battles with the Yuan empire from nearby Yunnan. The civilization disappeared, leaving behind pagodas as artifacts that became landmarks of modern-day Bagan.
It was overtaken by the Mongols.
