jan 1, 1903 - Year 1903:
Electric iron with a long cord, and continual
heating is patented.
Description:
Though Henry Seeley's design itself did not catch on, his principle of operation carried through to other irons. In fact, one of the only major changes made to his design was the addition of a cord that stayed permanently attached to the iron - one that allowed it to be constantly heated throughout the ironing process. This eliminated many of the problems Seeley's iron had, and soot many electric irons began to come onto the market.
