Ida B. Wells became one of the leading voices in the 1890s against the lynching of African Americans. ( after the violent lynching of three of her friends). She began with began with an editorial in the newspaper she owned. She organized an international campaign that lead to two speaking tours in England. She gave a speech on the subject at Boston’s Tremont Temple.
