Description:
A group of Hampton Institute administrators purchased eight arces of land (beachfront) on Chesapeake Bay to provide a place for student exercise a hotel which could host in and out of town guests. Led by Frank D. Banks, the administrators combined their funds to build a four-room cottage that they named the Bay Shore Hotel. This was rare so African Americans from as far as New York would travel there during the summer weekends.Added to timeline:
