jul 1, 1642 - Pascal's Calculator
Description:
Blaise Pascal, a French mathemetician in the 16th century, was known for many things. His calculator contributed most to computer science during his lifetime, hence its appearance on my list. After creating 50 different prototypes, he finished making a calculator that would add and subtract two numbers directly.
This made the idea of calculating outside of your head more achievable, it continued the use of algorithmic mathematics, and it garnered the approval of former King Louis XIV of France.
