Description:

Considered the first computer, the Analytical Engine was partially created by Charles Babbage. It was never finished due to his death in 1871, but the full design had been completed in 1837. It would have been able to complete any equation given to it and would be considered the first digital computer.

The fact that the Analytical Engine came just over a century before any other digital computers, inspired future computer scientists to create all-purpose digital computers, and was program-operated makes it deserving of its spot on my list.
