jun 16, 1787 - Conneticut Compromise
Description:
The Connecticut Compromise, or the Great Compromise of 1787, created the bicameral system that is currently in use. The Compromise took elements from both the Virginia and New Jersey Plans to appease both the smaller and larger states. It took from the Virginia Plan the bicameral system and adopted the representation in proportion to population rule in the lower house. From the New Jersey Plan, the Compromise adopted the equally-weighted representation in the upper house by having two senators from each state with no respect to population.
